Popa Chubby is a survivor. His dad died when he was seven, was abandoned and raised himself, moved to New York City when he was 18 and started playing music. Popa had a heroin habit and ended up strung out on the streets until he was in his twenty's. He then started playing again and got away from drugs and never went back, he then got into the New York blues scene in the early 90's and here he is today.
This will be Popa's second time at Uncle Bo's, I loved how he played "Somewhere over the Rainbow" on his last visit, it got extremely quiet in the house as everyone was glued to his performance. We are so happy to add him to our St Patrick’s Day Axe Weekend.
